Before their next ODI series, Australia’s women’s skipper, Sophie Molineux, has acknowledged the difficulty Bangladesh would present. The teams will play three games in Brisbane on October 9, 11, and 14. Molineux’s remarks follow the Bangladesh men’s team’s outstanding Test victory over Australia earlier this year.

On their third try, Bangladesh defeated the hosts by nine wickets in Darwin on August 13–16, 2026, earning their first Test victory in Australia. The outcome showed how far Bangladeshi women’s cricket has come internationally. Molineux considered the importance of that Test series and its implications for the forthcoming One-Day International matches. That’s just sports, I believe. That’s probably just a good reminder to everyone that anything can happen on any given day, and that’s what sport offers.

It was fantastic to see, and I believe that series was fiercely contested, drawing a lot of attention from viewers in Bangladesh and Australia. Molineux was cited as saying, “So yeah, I’m sure there will be no different in terms of our series and it being tightly contested here. “Bangladesh presents us with a variety of difficulties. It only demonstrates the extent to which Bangladesh will be able to participate in the women’s game in our own country. I believe it will be a really fascinating series for both of us, and hopefully the audience will show up and it will be a terrific competition,” she continued.

Molineux noted that one crucial area where Australia would need to modify their strategy was Bangladesh’s bowling attack. The Australian skipper acknowledged that while Bangladesh’s spin options pose additional tactical obstacles, their fast bowlers function differently from opponents Australia usually faces. We will likely need to cover a number of topics, in my opinion. They are an extremely talented crew. “I believe there is a lot of pace off from a bowling perspective,” Molineux remarked.

They have some excellent spinners on their team, so we’ll need to practice hard and make sure we’re ready for them, even if I know we’re probably a little more accustomed to the speed coming on the ball. They also possess great skill. We’ll need to bowl really well to them, I suppose,” he continued.

In recent years, Australia has played Bangladesh several times, which has given them invaluable knowledge for the next series. Molineux did concede, though, that both teams will have different challenges when playing in Australia, necessitating meticulous planning and tactical modifications. She highlighted pacer Marufa Akter as someone the Australians need get ready for. Once more, we will need to complete our schoolwork because she is quite skilled. Over the past two or three years, we’ve played against them a little, and we’ve learned a lot from that. However, playing them in our environment will be a little different, so we’ll need to make the necessary adjustments,” Molineux said.
