The first match of the three-game ODI series between India and the West Indies is currently underway at the Greenfield International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. During this match, former Indian captain and seasoned batsman Virat Kohli achieved a significant milestone.
Virat Kohli has now become only the second cricketer from India and the world to score 15,000 runs in ODI cricket. Heading into the match, he needed 59 runs to reach this figure. He accomplished the feat by hitting a boundary off Alzarri Joseph on the fifth ball of the 29th over of the Indian innings. The only player ahead of Kohli is Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record for the most runs (18,426) in ODI cricket.

Meanwhile, India needs 296 runs in 50 overs to win the match. Batting first after losing the toss, the Caribbean team scored a total of 295 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs.
The opening pair played a crucial role in taking the team to this score, sharing a solid 135-run partnership for the first wicket. Justin Greaves (101) and John Campbell (62) played magnificent innings, while Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 58.

As for the Indian bowling attack, experienced spinner Kuldeep Yadav claimed the highest number of wickets, taking four.
