Nigar Sultana Joty will remain ODI captain for the upcoming tour of Australia, according to confirmation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Following Joty’s decision to resign from the T20 International captaincy midway through the Asian Games, there was conjecture that the board may select a new captain. During the visit, Bangladesh will play Australia in three One-Day Internationals.

On Monday, September 28, 2026, BCB president Tamim Iqbal and women’s wing chairman Rafiqul Islam Babu met with the women’s cricket players at the BCB headquarters to discuss the captaincy position and other issues impacting the squad.
